February 2018 - Rachel Saavedra's clinic was a huge success for riders and auditors! Comments from attendees include,"Rachel's expertise covers the full breadth and depth of what I need to succeed with my horses"   " horse and I get better every time I ride with Rachel!..."  "one of the best clinics I have ever audited..."

Rachel Saavedra is a Grand Prix trainer and instructor based in Livermore, California. She has been on the USDF instructor certification faculty for more than 18 years, teaching workshops for trainers around the country. She is a popular national and international clinician for amateurs and professionals alike.

May 2017 - Affirmed Silence (Alvi), our 2011 Thoroughbred gelding, had a great clinic with Beth Baumert at Hipico.  Beth is an outstanding clinician, author and respected expert in correct foundations in dressage.   It was a blast, Beth!  Thank you SFDA, NMDA, TDF, Hipico Santa Fe, everyone who made this clinic possible!

June 2016 - HCF is very excited to host the Rachel Saavedra Dressage Clinic  5-7 August 2016.  Rachel is a high performance Grand Prix competitor, trainer, and instructor. She is a USDF Senior Faculty Member for the Instructor/Trainer Certification Program, and has been giving USDF workshops around the US for over 15 years. She has mentored many of the Bay Area's top dressage trainers as well as successful amateurs from training level to Grand Prix. She has taught the CDS Amateur Clinic series multiple times, and offers clinics as her schedule allows. She is often thought of as a professional's trainer, but she has always worked with eager amateurs. She is a thinking rider's instructor who builds long term relationships with her students and horses in training. At home at Greenville Equestrian Center, Rachel teaches FEI competitors as well as riders who just want to ride athletically and harmoniously for their own and their horses' pleasure. She works closely with owners and horses to develop the horse's full potential and to ensure full engagement and pleasure in the process for all involved.  email [email protected] or call/text 505.310.1050 for rider and auditor reservations.
May 2016 - London HCF, 3 yr old HAN mare by Beste Gold/Belucci out of Elite Premium HAN mare, Folie A Deux.  London was at her first hunter/jumper show with trainer Chenoa McElvain guiding her over .80M courses.  London did great.  She was calm, focused and went right to the fences.  Awesome job, Chenoa!!
April 2016 -  We received news that our horseman colleague and all-around amazing man, Loal Tucker, has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. Loal and his wonderful fiancĂ©,  Wendy, will have a very long journey to recovery.  Loal is a well-respected, top-rated horse trainer who donates his time to many worthy causes, such as The Horse Shelter's annual Trainer Challenge.  If you could find in your hearts to go to type in Loal Tucker,  read about all of this to see how you can help and donate that would be greatly appreciated.   We all have a health care/insurance story to tell these days.  We would like to assist in relieving some of the extra (and unnecessary) stress of the financial impact this illness is having on Loal and his family.  We want him to have all his energy and focus for healing - get well soon, friend!
October 2015 - Everyone enjoyed the clinic with Sarah in beautiful fall weather.  Even Brian and Cat got in on a great lesson with Sarah!  Sarah returns in December...stay tuned for dates!
September 2015 - Stunning Polish Arab For Sale!  What a great guy - a 1999 gentleman with talent and an excellent attitude.  He is a natural dressage star, loves to trail ride and field hunt, and jumps 2'6" effortlessly.  More information on our Sale Horse PAGE.  In recent clinics with both Sarah Dodge and Dolly Hannon, both said this is a very talented, rideable horse who can move up the levels!  $7,500
August 2015 - Orion (formerly Orbach) is making great progress.  Since arriving in February from the Horse Shelter, he has proven to be a solid, willing dressage partner.  And he is quite the barn clown!
July  2015  - The Horse Shelter 2015 Trainer Challenge is fast approaching and our adoption horse, Giambi, is getting ready.  Come see this handsome, smart 3 yr old pinto gelding show his stuff on 18 July at 10am at the Santa Fe Rodeo Grounds
April 2015 -Florisena (Floriscount/Wertherson) has arrived!  The beautiful filly came into the world on 23 April, and 2 hours after being born, got up and gave her first amazing trot steps across the paddock!  This stunning chestnut girl has all the brilliance of her outstanding German sire, Floriscount and the elegance of her dam, Folie a Deux.  We can't wait to see how she develops!
March 2015 - Brian is bitten by the field hunt BUG!  Brian and Orion discovered the Caza Ladron Hunt Club in Santa Fe through the kind invitation of our friend, Debra Hagey, to join a Saturday morning (no-kill) hunt at Buckman.  Well, the rest is  history.  The season is over until next fall and Brian is looking for his full-time hunt/trail riding equine partner.     Orion returns to the dressage ring to continue his amazing progress as a very talented lower level horse.  He is just six years old and has a great future ahead in dressage!

February 2015 - A belated HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!  Hard to believe that March is almost upon us.  Everyone at HCF is getting ready for the upcoming show season starting with schooling shows next month.   We are pleased to welcome Orbach (now named Orion) a wonderful 6 year old, 17h TB from the Santa Fe Horse Shelter to his new forever home at HCF.  He will be Maureen's schooling and trail companion.  He is a gentle giant who settled in immediately to the bustle of the barn.   He is working in dressage exercises and some in-hand work.  The Santa Fe Horse Shelter is a wonderful non-profit organization that provides shelter and care for adoptable horses.  Mike and Michele and their amazing staff and volunteers give surrendered, abandoned and at-risk equines an exceptional home to recover, heal and eventually be adopted.  Check out their website at

December 2014 - We wish everyone a peaceful and safe HOLIDAY SEASON.  Best wishes to all for 2015!!

November 2014 - Horses and riders at HCF enjoyed another great clinic with Grand Prix rider, Lauren Ogden.   Under a warm Autumn sun, Lauren worked with all dressage levels.  It was amazing to see the horses and riders transform and improve  with her instruction and insight.  Lauren will return in December on Saturday the 13th from 12:30 pm to 5pm and on Sunday the 14th from 9 am to noon.  Riders and horses accepted at all levels.  Auditors are welcome.  Call 505.310.1050 to reserve a ride time or an audit seat.
October 2014 - Dr. Linda Schneider is now certified in equine chiropractic treatment and accepting appointments in the Santa Fe area.   For 13 years, she has provided diagnosis and care for pain, discomfort and degenerative conditions.  She now brings her extensive experience to our horse partners.  You can reach Dr. Schneider at 505-690-6161
